There's a lot of stuff I wanna say and ask but have no idea which thread to put it in so here it is. If you're playing now or have played or are going to play.
Warninggggggg: There might be spoilers if you don't want anything ruined for you, be prepared
I just had my first pvp encounter, raped someone, then got molested by 4 asmodians who wouldn't stand for me being in their city. Are you able to see opposite factions level or no?

No you can't which really sucks because I haven't learned to tell how high level people are by looking at their gear :(

What's the PvE like? (not leveling) Do they have dungeons? How many people usually go in? Which classes are most needed right now? Which classes are even useful right now?

Theres a few 6 man dungeons that are pretty easy ( the lowest is like level 30 which is fire temple ) and theres a few raids for 45-50, which I don't know anything about.

is there a death penalty.
what do you gain/lose when you kill another player or die to one?

PVP death penalty you get a debuff which slows you and reduces attributes.
PVE death penalty, you lose a certain amount of EXP on top of the debuff.
You can talk to a soul healer and pay to have the debuff removed immediately and also restore your lost EXP.
You don't have to get "soul healed" but every consecutive time you die, the cost to get your exp back raises(because more exp is gone of course) and the duration of your debuff gets longer.

What is there to do when you reach lvl 50?

Its just world pvp and raids ( have little to no info on the raids ). Basically you just run around and pvp and push the fortesses, you get abyss points from killing people, doing quests, and killing mobs in the abyss and you can use that to buy a lot of the better gear.
that sounds underwhelming but theres really more to it than that

So let me get this straight: you have to pay money to get rid of the debuff when leveling? I assume you only have to pay to have exp restored so PvP would be free, but damn.
So I could die as much in a level, but keep track of how much I lost, then pay to restore myself and ding? Sound pretty cool. How easy is it to die/how much are we talking money wise to get the exp back?

Duration starts short(seconds) and gets longer the higher level are.

Soloing a Gladiator to 21 I died definitely 20+ times just because it was my first time playing and I was kind of careless. Leveling a Cleric with a friend playing Gladiator to 18 so far and we've died twice, and that was just trying to kill some elite at lower levels.
The money isn't that bad, but it's hard to compare to anything since you don't know much about the economy. But its not too expensive really, just know that you want to spend as little as you can since everything in this games revolves around you having as much gold(or kinah) as possible.

The debuff when you die only lasts a minute, and paying to get the debuff removed/exp back really isn't bad. When you die and lose exp the chunk of exp you lose is grayed out on your exp bar and you an hover your over your exp bar to see how much it is you're missing.

Bottom right to show what he's explaining.

So do you get the exp back when the debuff wears off or is it gone until you pay to get it back?

Can you loose levels by xp loss?
Also, from the sound of it, you have to hide when you rez in pvp until your every-death rez sickness wears off.
Which sounds like crap.

when you die...
1. you can either choose to release or wait for a rez from a friendly player (30 minute limit on waiting to release)
2. if you release, you cannot be rezzed by a friendly player
3. if you get rezzed by a friendly player, you dont have the rez sickness but you still lose exp (unless you died to PVP, then you dont lose exp either)
4. when you release, you respawn at the last graveyard you saved at with rez sickness and exp loss
5. you can talk to a spirit healer (who is next to the graveyard) and pay a small fee to restore the exp and remove rez sickness
may not be true in all areas or situations but thats the gist of it

So you have to 'save' yourself to a graveyard? How bad of a debuff are we talking about? I don't exactly want to pay to be functional in pvp, but if it's like a 5%-10% loss in stats I wouldn't mind just going on as normal until it wears off. If we're talking about WoW rez sickness then I'm going to have to find a very profitable profession.

It slows your speed too. You might as well just pay for it everytime you die because the bitch is right next to where you rez.

Bah, looks like I'm going to have to invest in a profession after all, and here I was hoping to skip it like I do in WoW.

One of the most frequent questions the Aion team has heard from players during the beta events is, "What version is the North America and Europe game launching with?" We're happy to announce today that Aion is planned to release with version 1.5, the third major game update, bringing the content as up to date as possible. The Aion team strives to keep the game content consistent between territories, and releasing with this game version brings us one step closer to this goal.
Stay tuned to the official web site for more details about version 1.5 and the release of Aion!

word @ third update. Weird that they're calling it 1.5 when its actually 1.3 though?
Anyway when you die in pvp you don't lose exp and it costs nothing to have the debuff removed ( 1 adena, which is more or less 1 copper equivalent in wow ).
