This build has absurdly OP DPS, is nearly impossible to kill, and carried me.
Pros (compared to that other paladin DPS spec)
You will be frequently misread as ret.
You will do more burst damage than you would if you were retribution.
You do not need much resilience. In fact, most PVP gear should not be an upgrade for you.
Avenger's Shield is an excellent ranged slow that hits for a lot of damage.
If you have 4pc T7 tank gear, your bubble will last 15 seconds.
You can basically ignore blessing of protection on a target.
Cons
You will not have repentance.
You will have no mana regen mechanic outside of divine plea. After a few ticks of viper sting or four mana burns, you will stop doing DPS.
Your heals will be much smaller than if you were retribution. You also won't be able to cast as many, and you have a crappy increased crit healing talent instead of a HoT.
You cannot magically jump out of stuns.
Gear
I'm not going to say there's some magic set of stats at which this spec becomes a good option, but it pretty much requires a cherry picked selection of high block value tanking gear. I personally use 1885 unbuffed block value, which jumps up above 3000 with buffs and procs. For most slots, you'll want to value gear according to this filter:

Apply some reason to gear selection. The filter only gives you BV, but hit, crit, and stam are all excellent stats. You'll want to use Lavanthor's Talisman and the badge libram.
Talent build
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=sZaebhfzRtfIRhoVfMLbb
Everything is pretty self explanatory. Take the best prot damage and survival talents available while leaving 20 points for ret. A shield slam build with more points in ret isn't really workable because you need Shield of the Templar, but if anyone wants to try something involving divine purpose I'd love to hear about it.
Variations
Full toughness (http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=sZaebVfzMtsIRhoVfMLbb) if you really don't like running slow
No PoJ (http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=sZaebhfzRtfIRhoVfMx0d) for use with unholy DK
Glyphs
Your major glyphs should be Avenger's Shield, Hammer of Justice, and Judgement (though I'm not sure about Judgement).
Your minor glyphs should include The Wise and Sense Undead.
