I'll be picking this up when I get my laptop in a few weeks and still cant decide on a class.

I've heard cast bars bug out all the time. And I heard melee have trouble with "You are out of range"

So which would be less annoying? Melee or casters?

I've been thinking about shaman, ironbreaker, the mage-like classes, and maybe engineer/squig herder.

haven't had much trouble with the "you are out of range" although casting does seem a bit bugged when you're hit, but the cast still goes off(hard to explain.)

I saw a video and I think I know what your talking about.

So would ironbreaker be a good choice? Im guessing most of the time people will be hitting me, or will be trying to push past me, not much chasing.

With the bug casting, the animation finishes before your cast bar does if you're being knocked back. For example, you're casting Howl of Terror -- your char will finish the animation/movement and the purple glow will still go off in 2 seconds, regardless of pushback on your castbar. So you'll just be standing still with no casting animation for however many seconds longer it takes to finish casting.

As long as you judge it off the bar, rather than the glowy animation you're fine.

Though they'll prolly just fix it soon'ish anyway.

Out of range is more a lag thing and I encounter it every few scenarios on one player but that's not a biggy for me.

I've only played a semi-cast class (engineer) in beta and a zealot for one day (this one on live), I must say they greatly improved it and I rarely had problems, though I didn't really need to cast when someone was on me, and when I did I had the same issues as everyone with animations. But I'm sure that's fixable.

I'd say one of the most annoying things with melee is it seems every once in a while someone will run in place, then warp maybe a good 30 feet ahead, it seems to only happen in scenarios and happens a lot if a caster (or anyone i suppose) is running in a straight line and i get in front of him to block him with collision.

Also this stupid bug when you get dismounted sometimes it shifts your characters model so its facing at a weird angle, when you run straight it looks like your facing the wrong way, its really weird but mounting and dismounting fixes it. Its not that bad just annoying (like a lot of the bugs)

They are both issues that will likely be fixed relatively soon.

Ignoring bugs I'd say that the tank classes seem the least frustrating to play, simply because of good survivability.

War isn't affect by lag when casting like wow is. With wow if you have 300+ latency you can move about 3/4 of the way through the spell and it will finsh. With war you must wait till it goes all the way and you see what happens for it to reg. So if your right at the very end but you get pushed back the bar will be pushed back and it wouldn't have gone off but your char might finsh the animation (just gotta wait that extra .3 seconds). Pretty easy to get used to.

most frustrating thing, taken from another board

For those DAOC'rs out there this is probably old hat. Every once in a while in a scenario I would be chasing someone, they would then appear to be running still, then unattackable, and then warping some 50 feet ahead.

Turns out this is an exploit related to window dragging. By moving the window currently the client side suspends data until the window is reset. End result is that client sends data in a burst and causes user to warp through screen.

If you see a char repeaty this behavior (normally happens when running away) I would encourage you to report this behavior.

Somewhat upsetting that Mythic allowed this to continue from DAOC. Combined with (target out of range to be attacked) this could become quite annoying if not worse and overall making life very difficult for melee.

Just delete this Alpha if you don't want a known exploit to be posted but its pretty widespread at this point so i figured i'd post so people know to report it when it happens

The better known an exploit, the faster it will be handled, at least that's my hope.

PS: Although, now that I actually read it, I have found this to happen quite often, where people will also appear standing on a mount and then vanish, or in scenarios, but usually it wasn't that frequent that I would have thought it would be an exploit.
Maybe some people with bad internet connections also do this by accident.
