Hey there. Just need a little guidance bestowed upon meh :)

My main, which is a lvl 70 shaman is in a raiding guild. So that means I'm pretty nubbish when it comes down to arena/pvp. I'm not a complete nub though; I know how honor/arena pts work, but on this character I have been trying to meet the needs of my guild= not a lot of pvp time for me!

Here is where I need a little direction. I have a lvl 45ish lock that i plan to get to 70 in the next few weeks and pvp it up. So the main reason for this lock is pvp/arenas. I know that pvp and upper level pvp is a gear/resilience check, so here is my question.

What choices in gear/gear progression would be wise? I know I can farm some bg's for a few pieces of decent gear, but will that be enough to leap into arena so late in the game? I have done some 5v5's on my shaman just for fun, and basically my team got steamrolled cause we were in pve gear with little to no resilience.

So I'm not sure if i should farm the blue pvp set first and a few of the purples, and then move into arena's, or? Any advice which would help this char get into the arena scene would be great!

move into the arena as soon as you hit 70, you may not get alot of points at first, but atleast you'll get your weekly points, and being a warlock you could most likely get a decent rating even with bad gear.

but other than arena, farm the pvp epic rewards first imo,(ring/ belt/ bracers/ boot/ neck) then when you finish those, depending on how many gladiator pieces you have, then go for the HWL/ GM armor, but you really shouldnt need more than 2, just for the res bonus to help you out until you start to collect some gladiator armor.

as far as weapons go you can just pick up a pve weapon until you have plenty points to spare for the gladiator weapon.

My warlock got 70 last month and here's what I did.

Start arena ASAP. Make a 5v5 team (200g) and some day when your guild is off raiding, ask guild chat if anyone wants to play 5v5 with your alt, just for points. Aim for 2 healers and 3 dps, but take anyone who will go really, especially if they will come on their main. Raid-geared melee DPS and someone to heal it will pull you to 1600 or 1700 rating with very little problem, which is more points than you could ever hope to make in 2v2 or 3v3 with your gear. Spend your points on armor, gloves first, then whichever slot you have the worst item in.

Don't buy any blue PvP set items. Honor is very time-consuming to farm and you'll be sick and tired of it long before you even finish getting the epic items. In fact I made some tailoring items (unyielding girdle + unyielding bracers) in honor slots simply to tide me over until I farmed all the other honor slot items. And I'm still wearing them, a month later.

Go to halaa and fight for battle tokens, and spend them on the blue leggings. Easy resilience item in an arena slot. Run slabs every time you see the spirit shard buff up, and collect 50 spirit shards for the ring. As a side effect this will almost certainly get you the greatsword of horrid dreams and the wand of the netherwing, both of which are solid weapons for until you finish buying arena armor. Altrenately, run BM for KoT revered and get the continium blade. Slightly better for a little more time.

For arena slot armor, until you can accumulate it use placeholders from 5mans or crafting. Your slabs runs should get you robe of oblivion for chest, which is very solid. My warlock was already a tailor, so I made and use frozen shadowweave shoulders then stopped at 360. Going for the full set might be worth it if you have more money than I did, as it is better than most any 5man gear. For headpiece I like mana-etched crown from BM because it has spell penetration to help cut through that pesky priest buff.

The day I hit 70 I made a 2v2 team and kept it around 1500 just for the points each week. As my gear got better (via halaa, bgs, and crafted stuff) my 2v2 went up to around 1600/1700ish. Around this time I got a 3v3 and started getting more glads gear. It was slow but it worked.
