The matchup everyone who plays this setup wants to know about... (from reading gameriot blogs etc anyway) :P

How DO you have even the slightest chance of winning against a competent team of Mage/Rogue as Shadowpriest/rogue?

Ive just started a new 2v2 team with a rogue friend of mine i 5v5 with and we pretty much plowed every team in our way (with some silly mistake losses and just a few badluck), but a few mage/rogue teams along the way proved to be a big problem, against the last we went 2 - 4 but they were clearly lesser players.

The only strategy we've gotten to work even slightly is for the rogue to stay close to me (or run and sap the mage if hes close) and wait for their rogue to attack me or get caught by my rogue (not happened yet atleast), and then do as much damage possible before the mage and rogue has managed to kill me, no matter how well my rogue tries to lock their rogue down he always manages to get away and the mage to sheep my rogue, or cc him with nova etc while the rogue and mage run after me. (this all sounds like a long drawn out process but its usually over in 10-15 seconds)

If ANYONE(especiall those with high rated sp/rogue teams like rotard *wink wink*) has any pointers or tactics on how to handle this very hard setup better i know I and many others would be very grateful.

i 2v2 with a shadow priest, the highest rating we've achieved this season was 2270-something, but recently we've faced about 100000 sl warlock + x <healer> teams that pillar kited vigorously. as a result we decided to invite a rogue to the 2v2, we'll see how it goes... (proly not so well seeing as to how its so late in the season and we have little experience running the combo)

Heres what we do, Firstly it is a very hard combo for you BUT it's doable. Now one thing to keep in mind is if the rogue is undead your chances of winning go down a lot. but anyways. We move fast out of the gate to get to the mage asap. We cheap shot the mage. Do your best on your mount movement to avoid the rogue for a few seconds trinket dot and silence... ive found its important to silence the mage right away, as it lets your rogue land his shiv and some combo points without him blinking away. As soon as your dots are up start pillar kiting/ losing the mage. do your best to tell your rogue as soon as the rogue has used his trinket on one of your fears blind then and its over. This is one of those matches that one bad resist is a loss. But thats the story of this combo resists cost you games :( Today i fought a warrior paladin the paladin resist all 3 fears, 2 silences, and 2 mass dispells :(

Yeah the ones we've fought sofar was all undead, both mage and rogue, i guess thats why, still we'll try jumping the mage asap in the next game

It all depends on if the rogue is UD or not. If he's UD, you lose, might as well just leave really. If he's not, you have a very, very good chance of winning. I'm sure you guys can work out what I mean by this :)

I have zero experience playing as either one of these setups, but couldn't the Priest-Rogue just jump on the enemy Rogue and kill him ASAP, saving the Rogue's trinket for Blind and the Priest's trinket for stun or Polymorph?

It's very hard to get an effective burst against the opposing rogue. Between CloS negating alot of the priest's damage when he's not poly'd or counterspelled, and frost nova's slowing down your rogue, it's an uphill climb.

When we win against this match-up, which isn't often, it's usually because I drop sf and dispel/heal/los like crazy.

A well played frost mage/rogue is just a really difficult combo for sp/rogue.

Can't wait until mages get Icy Veins. :(

I'm sure this is trivial for human rogue/priest. Sap rogue to force trinket then blind.
