I'm a little confused about how gladiator works.

I realize the calculator estimates what rank you would need, but what I don't understand is if it says number of gladiator 99, would that mean even if my team was ranked 50th and there are alot of people the same rating (example - 20 teams ranked 50th with the same rating) would that lower the rank needed for gladiator or would everyone up until rank 99 get gladiator, even if its like (huge example-)200 teams the same ranking?

Hope that makes sense

the number of glad teams and the rank needed might differ if some top team is considered inactive

Nope. If you look at armory and 2 teams have the same rating, it looks like this.

Team A: 2307 - 4th
Team B: 2296 - 5th
Team C: 2296 - 5th
Team D: 2292 - 7th

When multiple teams share a rating, it does not progress as 4-5-5-6. It is like the Olympics. When two athletes share silver, there is no Bronze. Again using the above example, in a Battlegroup where 5 teams get Gladiator, teams B and C would both receive the title.

If the calculator says that X teams will get Gladiator, think of it as going to all teams up to X ranking, including all teams that share rating with X.
