I think I have come to the harsh reality that AR/PREP is better then my old mutilate spec. Any reason not to spec it for s3?

I can't think of any downside to the spec, aside from maybe the slower poison app, but the AR/SS spam will probably help with that. I hate to jump on the bandwagon but I need to go with what works for success and I run a double DPS setup.

At this point is there any reason not to go AR/PREP (Maces)?

Help a dagger rogue out!

afraid as double dps in 2v2, you don't have much of a choice :( specially cos you need your own defences, no outside healing coming.

I dont know about a large amount of rogues, but my 2v2 partner is going mutilate next season ( 41/20 or 42/12/7) mainly beacuse the main dps that AR/Prep(0/31/30) hands you is the fact your get double of your cd's, aside from the mobility increase your damage becomes really dependant on getting the most you can out of the ARs meaning that any half decent team if not ccing you will try to at least snare you so you dont take full advantage of those leaving you on a downside as dmg in concerned. My rogue's decision was based on all 3 brackets however, now with just 2v2 in mind ;_; Sorry if this post didnt help.

Going hemo maces next season. Mutilate has been fun and I really enjoy it. Blizzard said they'd do more to reward rogues who use abilities that require attacking from behind, but they have yet to live up to that promise. For double DPS, the new AR/prep just seems too good to pass up.

Enjoyment, also, if you're making it work, I'd stick with it. It's a different playstyle, some folks will be performing less than they would with their normal spec for a bit, others will be vaulted into a higher bracket of play but still making the same misjudgements that held them down in the lower brackets with another spec.

However, given that you're running a double DPS setup for 2s, you're going to have a very difficult time. I won't put my foot in my mouth and say that it can't be done, because there is always some rogue, somewhere that can do something amazing. It'll be difficult, etc.

For me personally, I'm holding off as long as possible. I know my server won't be fielding any super competitive teams, I know that down the road, I may have switch for the benefit of my team if our needs are not being met. However, I leveled daggers, I beta'd daggers, I love my daggers, and until such a time comes when my team asks me to respec, I'll be staying daggers.

Another thing to remember, if you do switch, practice endlessly. Refamiliarize yourself with your new keybinds, etc before returning to the arenas.

2 dps teams should be in control of the fight from the onset, if you're letting them dictate the fight rather than being put on he defensive, you're not putting enough pressure and/or not doing a good enough job at controlling the fight. Your rogue shouldn't be getting CC'd for the first portion of the fight because he has cooldowns to counter-act CCs and the other team should be getting shut down, anyway.

Makes me wish my partner was still active so we could get in there and tear it up even more than before! Oh well, looks like I have to wait 'till next season. =(
