View Full Version : Keybinds - I need help.

I am a right-handed combat-mace rogue (18/43) with a mouse that supports 4 buttons (left/right click + 2 more). I use ASDW to move (A - strafe left, W - strafe right). I am going to transfer servers tomorrow and I should probably use this opportunity to improve my keybinds and build some new muscle memory. Right now, my vent push-to-talk button is LALT which is probably hurting me. Also, I do not use any shift or crtl. I am looking for a new key bind setup that will hopefully improve my play.

Also, what push-to-talk button do most of you use?

Any help from the rogue community would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have a button on either side of my mouse, and I use the right button as my PTT key. It was kind of an awkward movement at first but I love it now. I use the ring finger, so I'm free to keep doing whatever I please with my left hand and also it doesn't mess up my two fingers on the other mouse buttons.

Well, you should just enable voice activation, which will free that alt for you.

I'll post my keybinds, maybe they'll help (I'm a combat rogue as well):

3 - Kick
4 - Eviscerate
5 - Gouge
6 - Rupture
Q - Shiv
E - Blind
R - Kidney Shot
F - Evasion
G - Vanish
Z - Expose Armor
X - Healthstone
V - Riposte (currently specced out of it, so V is Heavy Leather Ball :>)
Ctrl+~ - Feint
Ctrl+1 - Stealth
Ctrl+2 - Cloak of Shadows
Ctrl+3 - Blade Flurry
Ctrl+4 - Sprint
Ctrl+E - Bandage self
Alt+1 - PvP trinket
Alt+2 - Perception
Alt+3 - AP trinket
Alt+4 - Blind on /focused target
Mouse5 - Deadly Throw

I would certainly like to change to voice activation. Right now, I think my headset/sound card are too crappy to handle it well. Anyone have voice activation tips? What senstivity do you use? Thx.

I don't have my own rogue anymore, but I do still play one. It's (unfortunately) an orc. Not that orc rogues aren't swell but I prefer UD for pvp.

1 - Riposte
2 - Evisc
3 - SS
4 - CloS
5 - Kick
6 - Kidney shot
7 - Gouge
8 - Bandage
G = Stealth*
F = Vanish*
Y - Evasion
A - Sprint
W - Deadly Throw
T - Shiv
E - SnD
# pad 0 - EA
# pad 1 - Blind
# pad 3 - Blade Flurry
# pad 4 - Rupture
# pad 7 - PVP trinket
# pad 8 - Blood Fury

When stealthed:

2 - Sap
5 - Garrote
6 - Cheap Shot

*No I actually don't have problems with those getting mixed up, people always ask ;)

And no, I don't click a single thing.

I'd recommend putting ptt on one of your side mouse buttons. Don't what kind of mouse you have, but I use a copperhead, and have it on the bottom left one.

About a year back I noticed that I only ever strafed left (A) in combat because I needed my index finger to hit other binds. This predictability annoyed me and I went out and bought a nostromo n52 controller. If you can manage to get used to it I highly reccommend it.

It gives you a gamepad to move with using your thumb, which leaves your other 4 fingers free to hit 14 convienent buttons. There's 3 shift states to give you more potential binds but it takes an extra keypress, which I found too cumbersome. I bound the two left side buttons on my copperhead to shift and alt, so I have 42 possible spells I can cast with one keypress on my left hand, depending which mouse button I am holding down with my right.

I've used these, they're very nice. I also highly recommend one.

Oh and my PTT is CTRL. Works well.

/win - ESDF is superior to WASD in every single way. I've been using this for years now rooting from my FPS days.

Reasoning:

1. Your hand is already there from your homerow
2. You have more buttons at your disposal

If you're using WASD you're gimping yourself.
