Shadowpriest vs Holy Disc - Gear or Spec?

Hey guys, my first question would be in a 5v5 with:

MS War
Ele Shammy
Frost Mage
Holy Pally
Shadowpriest(myself)

We have a good team with great players, but we're topping out at around 2100. Im wondering if its b/c of a lack of synergy b/w the shadowpriest and the rest of my team, and if a holy/disc priest wouldnt make things better.

This could be a case of "the grass is always greener" so I just wanted to see what some other top shadowpriests and holy priests feel about it.

My second question is focused more on, if I DID respec back to holy/disc, I would of course be using most of my Merciless DPS set to heal in. Which essentially sets me back by about 400-500 +healing. Im trying to figure if that would really make or break me as a holy/disc priest. I dont feel it would, since a priest in 5v5 at my level is mostly offensive anyway, and the only reason we spec so far into holy is for Blessed Resilience.

Just sorta thinking out loud. Would love to hear some quality feedback on the issues above. Thanks for reading guys.

Well, I have seen Shadow Priests that work well, but remember...sometimes your utility isn't just the damage you can do with your DoT's (which again are easily dispellable). You have other things such as Dispel and Mana Burn. The key is being ready to provide the Burst Damage that a Shadow Priest can definitely bring.

I'm Holy Disc and sometimes I wanna throw my computer out the window because I can't do anything when somebody gets low. SW:D doesn't even kill most targets at like 5% :-P.

Oh absolutely. Hell half the fights I spend out of shadowform burning mana and spot healing.
The only problem with that comes with the fact that when you're the first target, and you have a warrior beating on you, doing anything but dotting and running becomes a real issue.

And yea.. There are times when I was holy/disc I would have given money for silence. :)

From looking at your team setup I personally think that if you were holy it would fit the team better.

My reasons include...

1. You dont have a lock to benefit from your shadow weaving.
2. Your dots will be getting cleased/dispeled right off (no ua lock ftl).
3. Your survivability as shadow is much lower.
4. If you go holy you will fill the tanking/mana burning role so your +healing wont really matter. Besides PRoM and PW:S do not scale well with +healing, although renew does.
5. Go holy and be the ideal 2.5 healer cookie cutter team!!

My last thought would be to replace the warrior with a ua lock and youd have a kick ass 4 dps team ;) .
