I was thinking of this once phase 1 ended and the top 4 teams had been announced. Would these same teams have faired the same if the TR had used BT/S3(current live) gear, or would have double dps teams been a more prevalent
and less of a caster based?

You don't think a shadow priest ua lock would have gotten #1 with armor ignore on items

Meh, I don't really know how much armor pen changes games but seen their video some of those games had been very close to the point of having some armor pen might have ment a death on their part.
Just thinking.
Its almost like the same idea if everyone had s1 gear would pallys be better represented?

It really depends what "PVE" gear would be for S3. If glaives were given out to everyone, rogues would just absolutely destroy the TR, but if not it really would be pretty sane I think, caster teams would exist, double melee would, but rogues would be decently balanced if glaives/2.8 BT weapons weren't around.

Rogues is t5 are already stupid, rogues in t6 will just be absolutely ridiculous if they're given that when tourney realm items are inevitably updated.

Well, look on the bright side, maybe if they do a TR where rogues are 70% of the players, they'll wake up and do something about it.

I thought the need to revert back to season two and tier 5 gear was an acknowledgment by blizzard that season 3 melee gear and tier 6 (specifically on rogues) was too powerful and hence they'd do something about it soon, sadly in season 4 melee classes will be pulling further away from caster classes so the gap will widen if anything. If season three gear and tier 6 was allowed on the TR I'm pretty sure that melee teams would be more dominant. Sadly some melee players have used the TR results to show that live is balanced, completely ignoring the fact that the gear available on live is so different.

I think the strength of UA Lock/SPriest was that every rogue was wearing 150-250 resi so DoT mitigation was very poor... In fact they always dotted the rogue first.. I don't think t6 gear would be helpful vs them, but a rogue in s3 gear with like 2k ap and 400 resi unbuff it's a pain because their dot would tick for 10-15% less. (yes and BT weapons are helpful too because you don't lose that much resilience)
It probably wouldn't change much, since most of the comps are more about overwhelming a healer through cc or just a crazy amount of spread damage. If S3/T6 was allowed, rogues, warriors, and ret paladins would do more damage, but I don't think it would change much (RMP would be a bit better, double melee a bit better).

Casters were more powerful than melee in all seasons prior to 3, so yes obviously.

Thinking about things regarding the tourney and how X changes may or may not effect it.
Anyone else remember the 3v3 poll where people voted what team setup they thought would win the tourney, and a huge chunk of people voted hunter/warlock/druid ..... I wanted to just sit there in a permanent /facepalm with how short sighted and ignorant those opinions were.
