Hello!
I'm a happy troll mage that got some questions about warrior duels (without pet).
I have no problem defeating the majority of warriors. But now and then you face a warrior with a shitload of hp and that trinket with 40stam that heals 1300 over time.

When I face those I sometimes go oom before the duel is over.
I'm thinking of only using r1 CoC, nova as soon as its up, but then I'm out of ideas.

Any fellow mage that could share some tips? :)

Put them in frost nova, start casting frostbolt, when it's 0.2 sec left, cancel it and ice lance away the spell reflect. Then cast a real shatter combo. Always r1 CoC kite.
Most of the warriors I meet go down very fast so I can't say I've had any real problems.

And get piercing ice instead of ice floes and 1 point in WC please :<.

Hey mate, thanks for your quick reply!
Not to brag, but I usually do rank1 frostbolt and cancel it 'bout 0.2sec and then do ice lance to remove his spell reflect. After that a rank13 =).
Most often, not always though, I can blink their intercept without getting hamstringed, so that's a big plus =).
As you say, most warriors aren't any problem, but when you face a really good one with loads of hp, it can get hard if you don't use elemental.

About my spec, yea, I should probably remove 2 points in Ice Floes, since that talent is barely noticeable.

Another thing... If it is truly just 1v1, I generally don't hesitate to reset the fight with polymorph kiting & drinking/eating to full. It has the benefit that it is easy to pull off, nearly impossible to counter, and totally infuriates your opponent. If you mess up and start running low on mana, just go into sheep / drink / eat / kite mode and repeat. Added side-effect: get your WE back out there :D

If the warrior is smart he will not reflect the rank 1 and you will be screwed... Mods tell a player what rank someone is casting.

Hehe, well, I'm mainly talking about duels ^___^.

He reflects it because he doesn't want to stay slowed :).
When I kite a warrior, I use r1 of everything. r1 CoC, r1 Frostbolt, r1 nova etc.
So he doesn't reflect it for the dmg =).

But thanks to both of you for your inputs, keep 'em coming! ^_^

Are you starting mounted up? And if it is a duel, tried using CS to push into combat to avoid charge?

No, I don't. And I always give them the charge :)

Yeah, it's pretty cheese if you don't give them the charge.

warrior duels are one's where I wouldn't be afraid to poly actually...If they are gnome it usually makes it alot tougher but most will blow their trinket early in a nova so you can hit them with a full duration poly and wait out hamstring. form there its pretty much a reset fight without the charge ;)
