This is for my lock alt,

Which would be better for an outlast/mana drain type setup, bearing in mind the 2v2 partner will be a pala/priest and in 3v3 a priest and hunter. (Maximum mana burnage)

So which would be more effective now, and in S3. I know SL/SL is getting nerfed, so I'm more inclined to go for 20/41, especially with the Felguard getting-behind-the-target buff. But I might miss CoEx, especially against rogues.

What do you guys think?

The SL/SL variants are a lot better for 2v2 with a healer than 20/41.

Why?

There's just so many warlocks in high end 2v2. Your felguard is too easy to banish, spell lock and devour magic are amazing abilities when used right and the puppy is difficult to cc. Long story short: fel hunter > felguard.

You also lose a few key abilities. As you said CoEx is very important, especially when you're playing with a pala, CoEx + BoF are awesome. Siphon life is pretty damn amazing for 1 gcd every 30 seconds and shadow embrace is also is very annoying for dispellers.

Ultimately gaining the felguard and a few other minor things in demonology is just not worth sacrificing some key things in affliction.

Ok seeing as I got a ban for my other post i'll explain better what i said

Felguard dies too easily (unless you've got viodstar talisman). Although it's ok in 5 v 5 for adding pressure onto other locks by putting it on their pets. It has alot of weaknesses without voidstar talisman -> banish, dots mainly. Which felhunter doesn't have. For 2 v 2 certainly I would never use a felguard as it's a pritty bad 1 v 1 spec atleast.

And with a paladin you're pritty much the only dps - I would rather have dots and drains than stead damage (low on a warrior so can be quite useless for burst) - whereas if I play with a priest a felhunter can be good agaisnt what ever combo I face, be it a druid + warrior or any other combo with a warrior in. For example it's hard to cyclone or root so they can't drink. It can dispel, even though felhunters die easily if you're willing to spend alot of shards you can still win quite easily and keep your priests mana very high. I'm still yet to lose to a druid warrior team, not because their is a lack of good ones.

I would recommend a max damage dot spec with SL (SL / SL) spec for 2 v 2 as I find it certainly the most viable. For 3 v 3 I would recommend the same (cut down on respecs, but I do play with a priest and mage - so it depnds on your setup).

Also for 5 v 5, I can't say what spec I would use here as my arena team's tactics arn't really discussed outside 5 v 5.
