View Full Version : WoTLK Beta Key as season 2 reward for top 0.5%?

--- Nothing has been announced suggesting that, I was simply wondering about it ---

Do you think it's possible, and if so, would it be a good idea?

Frankly, as I 'earned' my TBC key by playing a lot of WSG on a level 19 Hunter, I don't see why not. It might not interest everyone, but it does look like something that would motivate more people than a different Netherdrake color or a murloc companion.

Should give it to both gladiators and duelists

duelist = bad

Duelist = better than 90% of the other people they'll get to test it

The end of season award for season one was given to gladiators only. It makes that the end of season two reward would be the same way.

This isn't exactly an "award" -- it's not a drake, it's a way to get proper testing done

If it does happen, I think the Gladiator vs Gladiator + Duelist thing will be more about how many people they need for the beta, not about whether Duelists really deserve it or not.

I'd still rather Duelists get keys than have them randomly handed out.

PvPers are far more likely to help Blizzard properly balance any new skills/talents they add into the game and lots of Duelists/Gladiators are in top end PvE guilds anyway (and top PvE guilds get keys handed to them regardless so PvE will get tested).

90% of WoW players = horribad

Duelists = bad

I doubt that will be the reward for this season. That will make it really unfair for the other players who don't PvP, but excell in PvE (Nihilum, DnT for instance).

At the same time, I doubt it will be another Netherdrake, that will be plain dumb.

My guess is the rewards will be a tabard, or some sort of vanity item. It's a bit far fetched, but meh.

This would of course be one way to get a beta key amongst many others. Many top PvE guilds will still recieve keys, along with a lot of keys being given out randomly/on fansite contests/etc.

Would be nice if beta key would be an award, but it shouldnt be only for PvPers because PvE is still big(gest?) part of this game. So I'd divide it between Gladiators and active raiders of top PvE guilds.

I think that giving it to gladiators would be fine. It is an excellent place to get feedback on their pvp, and they clearly need it because I really don't feel that TBC pvp was very well done. To be fair, they didn't really have anything to balance arenas on since battlegrounds were extremely different.

As for the duelist vs gladiator... not really sure. You can't really argue that being a duelist means you aren't skilled. I know plenty of duelists that I consider to be better than certain gladiator players. Like hunters for example: you have to have respect for a hunter that gets duelist in 2v2/3v3. I don't really see how it could hurt to have a slightly larger hardcore pvp population giving feedback. Make it too exclusive and you're really going to have all the feedback coming from a couple of overplayed classes.

It is a nice thought to only have the best of the best, but I think they should have a slightly broader pvp player base for them to test. And before anyone says it, I believe I qualify for gladiator right now on my realm; so no, not an entirely biased argument. =/

Duelists are people too :( But yeah it would open the field up a bit more and get a more balanced class representation. Like the other guys said, hunters who get duelist are pretty impressive. Also plenty of people could be Gladiator caliber but can't get there because of a lack of other Gladiator caliber people to team up with. There's only so many spots on a team and only so many "top teams."

But who are we kidding anyways, I don't know how Blizzard hands out keys but my guild leader got an email for BC keys... we sent in our info and heard nothing back.

I'd just give mine to a friend if thats what happens. I'm pretty sure that I'll make gladiator in my 2v2 bracket.

The content will get here when it gets here, I don't want to level to 80 twice. No way in hell.
