I'm trying to get Gladiator on my 2v2, with a Warrior/Shadow Priest team. I can't change my team, so advice on getting a druid or paladin to easy mode my way to Gladiator is pretty useless.

I'm currently using a Gorehowl. I can buy an S2 weapon next week and was wondering what would weapon would I have the best chance of getting Gladiator with? I've heard Maces can't be touched in 2v2 but most people who say this assume you have Stormherald.

Do you have any experience to verify that the Merciless mace is nearly as good as Stormherald? I just want to know if anyone has experience with the proc rate using the S2 mace, and the lesser damage based on faster speed.

Go with the mace for 2v2, it's not as great as Stormherald but it's still shits all over the sword and axe, as much as I'd hate to admit it.

K, I heeded your advice guys. I was thinking any time a proc occurred I'd rather have my target do nothing, rather than take some more damage, unless it would have killed them. And if they were that low, they'd be in execute range anyway. Unless, the sword proc got them into execute range... Great, now I'm having second thoughts, and I haven't even used the damn mace yet.

Stormherald is only better because of the top end and the mace itself has its own 1.5% proc for its 4sec stun. Its been said but, glad with a spriest wont be easy.

Probably easier then with a hpriest :(

Your playing with a SP ... so your a burst team I recommend going with the sword, maces is nice, but causes no burst and with a SP the target moving isn't as big of a deal as if you were playing with a frost mage.

The extra burst you will get will put the target at lower health have the priest fear the healer then mindblast sw d execute and any sword procs inbetween increases your chances of dropping the person vs stunning him which keeps him in place but your probably gunna be going for the other teams dps not their healer that's what I would do at least.

So because your going for there dps they aren't going to run away from you, keeping them in place is not that important vs getting the extra burst for the kill

And last but not least sword spec proc grants more rage and more rage equals more pwn - I hope you didn't buy the mace already.

You'll probably see at worst 3% less overall stun procs with a merc bonegrinder compared to stormherald. A marginal loss from .2 faster speed and the fairly lackluster weapon proc on stormherald itself.

.2 speed is not a marginal loss, that's a pretty big deal.

With that said, I had the MERC Bonegrinder before I had my MERC Decapitator now (yes that's right I went from mace to axe) and the mace worked just fine. I'd very often win 1v1 fights vs. Stunherald warriors.

They're really not too bad. Holy priests aren't as susceptible to silences as a paladin or shaman, which is quite the boon against dual dps teams that focus your warrior, and priests aren't really a great target for casters in 2s due partially to their instant heals (which allows for quite a lot of los abuse), and spell warding. 2x offensive and defensive spells are great against the anti-warrior buffs and ccs.

The only real problem I see with the setup is that it's fodder for melee dps due to your priests limited mobility, and it will rarely win the mana war against a druid team. Both significant rating cockblocks.

edit, and getting back on topic. :p

I meant that the .2 speed will result in a marginal loss of mace spec procs. Should have clarified.
