View Full Version : [5v5] Opinions on a 5v5 make up
For s3 I plan on going: Elemental Shaman, Frost mage, Moonkin druid,
then for my healer i'm thinking i'll most likely go with a resto druid, one that I KNOW. who is exceptional at cc. and if that makeup doesnt work i have lots of good holy pallies.
For the 4th dps i'm torn between ms war, rogue, and hunter.
MS warrior is just an all around powerhouse, while bringing along the 50% debuff.
Rogue has many ccs/lockdowns, while again bringing the 50% healin debuff.
And hunters are extremely useful at keeping people away from my 1 healer, which could be useful. Again they will also be able to apply the 50% health debuff when needed.
Any thoughts?
Edit: Not my real 2v2, i'm 2.1k with a rogue.
And my 5v5 is usually around 2050, we just failed miserably trying to get a different pally some games.

I'd say rogue. With 3 magic DPS, what you'll want to be doing is holding their warrior in one place out in the open and blow him up. Rogues are great for that kinda thing. For the healer also, I'd say go with a good paladin if you can find one. He'd bring more to the table beacause you'd then have a defensive cleanse, more buffs, and BOP. I try to shy away from having 2 of the same class in a single 5v5 team, especially if CC cannot be overlapped due to shared diminishing returns.

Interesting idea, I'm afraid I can't give you loads of relevant advice but I got a team you might want to look at: http://wowarmory.com/team-info.xml?r=Skullcrusher&ts=5&t=Chronic+Fluke&select=Chronic+Fluke&fl=1
This is the 2nd best 5v5 on my battlegroup, they run Warrior, Paladin, Moonkin Druid/Ice Mage, Elemental Shaman, UA Warlock. Seems fairly similar to what you were describing, especially since moonkin is a fairly unusual spec in high-end 5v5, and this team is very successful with one.
Given what you said, you can probably run Elemental Shaman, Frost Mage, Moonkin Druid, Paladin, Warrior/Rogue. I'd suggest a paladin healer over a resto druid simply because, with a druid, you would have no way to cleanse any magic effects, which is a significant weakness.
Edit: *our* battlegroup. Just noticed you're on Ruin, too :P

Yes, Exvius is right, without someone to cleanse magical effects, you would be screwe, so rather take a paladin or a full disc priest as your heal. (the full disc priest obviously being a very aggressive choice)
Also, with a moonkin, you will not need another druid to cyclone. Two druids in one 5v5 is really too much, DRs will be kicking in.
The 4th DPS should not be a hunter. There is no way a hunter will be able to plant his MS debuff as soon as the enemy realizes he is the only one capable of doing so. He will be mass focussed.
I see, thanks a ton for the insight.
What I've gathered is to have
Elemental Shaman, Frost mage, and rogue as my all time 3.
Then have shadow priest (for cleanses with a resto druid healing), the moonkin, and a paladin (with the moonkin dpsing) as backups.
By the way, the plan is to absolutely destroy someone with moonkin aura + bloodlust.
Bloodlusted treants and water elemental should not be underestimated.
