Focused Will:Rank 3:After taking a critical hit you gain the Focused Will effect, reducing critical damage taken by 30% and increasing healing effects on you by 30% for 6 sec.

Hopefully it stacks with resilience :X

Edit:

New Data
Flame Shock always hit / crits for the same within 1.

Normal Crit = 1199
Focused Will (0 resilience) = 899
Expected (-30%) = 839.3

Focused Will + 17.5% Resilience = 899

So non-stacking? And buggy? 899 is 25%. Not 30%.

sigh :(

Trying to make 41pt disc more viable, giving a replacement for BR, looks good, I want my PI damn it.

Definitely deep disc now

Does it stack with resilience, someone go check it out!
If this new talent does stack with existing resilience -critdmg, it's gonna make blessed resilience look like a piece of shit.

here's some math:

right now h.priests can reach ~400 resilience, that roughly equates to -10% crit and -20% critdmg. so if Focused Will's -30% critdmg stacks with the -20% critdmg, that's gonna make "melee crits" = "normal hits", and "caster crits" < "caster hits" (lol). and plus the fact that it gives you +healed, and you can get PI and PS, so yeah...

Tried it out on the ptr and it seems it DON'T stack with resillience.

Hope it's a bug, else I see no reason for choosing this talent, unless you got crapgear.

The damage reduction of crits is limited at 25%. I'm not surprised by your results, but why would Blizzard say 30% if they retain the 25% cap?

I want to go back to disc, and this talent might do it for me. Though after hearing how it doesn't stack to what its tooltip says, I'm quite disappointed.

Also our disc tree already consumes a lot of points, and throwing in an additional 3 point talent makes us have to spread points around even more :(

This seems like an amazing talent to have in 5s if you're ever focused as a priest.

I love it. I was getting 980 renew ticks, 2200 PoM's and a 3800 non crit desperate prayer (with PI up). This talent is definitely top notch imo.

Now, if they would only take Mental Strength and PI connection away, then we would have 100% fully solid talent trees.

Whats the reasoning behind mental str anyway? I wonder what the idea is behind forced talentpoints for one skill.

I rly hope we cant get something that scales with gear, else its just a static talent helping starting priest survive, ofc the healing will be good in 5vs5.

Earrl... wtf @ your spec. I thought you were our resident Discipline priest.

I don't even know what to think any more.

As far as the weaknesses of this talent (improper stacking, etc) we need to remember that it was only just introduced and they've yet to iron out the kinks. It'll be fun to play around with next season - I've decided to go 41 disc at least for the first little while.

You can't get more than 25% reduction on crit damage by any means in the current mechanics. The reason for this, I assume, is that if you could then casters without crit talents (like priests) would be critting for less than they hit for.

Which makes it really odd that they introduced this talent now. If they leave it at 30% reduction, even unstacked with resilience, then a shadowpriest is already going to crit someone with it up for a lousy 5% more damage. If they allow it to stack with resilience you are going to start seeing crits which are smaller - far smaller even - than normal hits. But if they don't allow it to stack, then wtf is the point of what is clearly a PvP talent but doesn't stack with PvP gear?

Bottom line I think they're just going to have to go with some other mechanic. IMO instead of 30% of crit damage just make it 10% of all damage. But at least the idea of a survivability talent in deep disc other than suppression is on a good track.

I'm doing 2v2 with my girlfriend anymore. I don't trust her to kill targets fast, and I can't yell at her when she doesn't. 28/33 might not be a "superior build" imo, it certainly has longer sustained survivability in 2v2 imo, and Warriors need healz yo! :P
