As stated, 1960 rated atm should be 1990 but disconnect this week :/

Anyway we're FOTM Warrior, ele sham, priest, pala frost mage but our frost mage decided to quit WOW.

Available to bring from my 3v3 team ( 1997 rated - 2017 peak this week ), are a FOTM draintanking warlock and a not so FOTM although soon to be FOTM boomkin who rotate a spot in the 3v3 alongside myself+ my 5v5's paladin.

Our battlegroup ( EU reckoning ) has a lot of 2345 teams alongside the well known grammerpolice/etc.
The warlock is triple A rated in skills, but lacking a decurse makes me uneasy although according to our priest/pala the mage didnt decurse very often and it would at least give us parity.

My other options are recruiting an unknown of random class, obviously prime choice would be a frost mage but they seem hard to find in a reliably body.

My thoughts were actually rotating two spots in the team, playing boomkin/warlock and boomkin/ele shaman, to avoid the decurse problem - it also gives us a nastier CC rotation than a frostmage but is obviously more susceptible to interupts - this is traded off survivability in that he can basically don max armour gear and tank - if they dont attack him they get cyclone rotated, if they do attack him they are attacking a 12-15k armour'd target with 400 resil.

Thoughts?

I think either would fit the part if the druid is good with cyclone. Id personally take the warlock for healthstones, Curse of tonges/pet/fear healer control, and better survivability.

The HUKS ran with that setup +soul link lock and got first in NA regionals and 3rd at Blizzcon, so putting in a warlock could definitely be a good option. They have a lot of survivability, give another dispel, healthstones, tons of worthless buffs to make your opponent's life miserable purging-wise, tons of CC and some respectable damage. Also in a prolonged fight, they don't suffer from lack of mana.

As for the druid, I can't really comment as to the usefulness of a boomkin. Only high rated one I've seen was in 3's with a soul link lock, disc priest. However, last season's number 1 team in Rampage-US ran a druid, but he was feral, and he subbed in for the elemental shaman, not the frost mage. I'd imagine that quite a few teams will focus fire the druid if you choose to use him, so you could possibly use that to your advantage somehow. Cyclone is very powerful, and innervate's always helpful.

Honestly, I could see either working. It's really up to you. If you want to play the safer route, go with the warlock, but if you want to try something new, go with the druid.

Lock fer sure. He can just take the place of of the mage for CC and give you CoT.

My palys team plays with a really good Boomkin, and it works pritty well. He has to understand his main goal is to CC warriors and other DPS, and not spam 2.

We got the warlock last week and hit 2041 rating, although not against a good team selection but we went 10-0 for the week. Will let you know results this week though.

Thought I'd post an update - my frost mage probably isnt quitting and the shaman went on vacation last week, so this week we played.

War/frostmage/priest/pala + sllock/eleshaman rotating in.

Went 11-0 against minrating teams unfortunately - we wanted to try out some new stuff with our shaman but c'est la vie.

Now 2055 rating :/

Unfortunately as the core of the team ( myself included ) are members of a raiding guild we're limited in playtime to thursday evening>sunday so our games/week vs better competition is limited and we often find ourselves point farming bad teams on a friday morning as happened this week.

21 game winstreak though :)
