i don't understand the posts claiming it's useless in pvp. learn to use it and you will be better.

you don't stand there for several seconds spamming slam. if you're going to spam it, the talent is about useless.

you get a swing timer mod (quartz works). after every white swing you slam once, taking only .5 sec of your white hit for unnormalized weapon damage+140.
slam can be used on any moving target if it is hamstrung. unless someone is running a straight line with blessing of freedom, you can use it. it isn't "situational."

used properly, it increases your dps by about 20%.

in a long arena fight, sunder is better for rage dumping than slam. slam might be nice for burst but it's too damn touchy for me. dunno, if it works for you, great, but i've never really had a situation where i thought to myself, "damn, i really wish i had slam right now" because people don't hold still, and i save the intercept stun for when i get cc'd or to interrupt someone else. i'd rather spend that rage to hamstring a pet off of my healers or demo shout a warrior than to fool around with slam.

I've always wondered why more warriors don't use sunder in arena, obviously the initial rage investment is a little steep, but after that don't you just have to hit sunder once every 25 seconds or so and it refreshes the full stack?

Never really liked slam, doesnt really fit my playstlye well enough for it to be useful in PVP, but in raids i spec it because it adds great damage in boss fights. Personal preference really.

people don't have to hold still for you to use it. you just cast it once (.5 sec) after each white hit. easy unless they're running a straight line with BoF on.
+unlike heroic strike, it only costs you 15 rage, not 15 rage+white hit rage. it also adds way more damage than HS.
+ you only have to sunder once every 30 seconds after the initial 5 stacks
+of course you still have 7 rage to hamstring stuff. i hamstring everything

so yes, you can still slam

"..and i save the intercept stun for when i get cc'd or to interrupt someone else. "

also, there's another example of someone not understanding slam. you don't need to stun people to get a slam off, and you shouldn't be chaining slams (inefficient because of GCD). i've never used intercept stun or any stun to slam people. i slam them while they're moving around.
