Been playing with specs a bit and am eager to try this one for primarily 2v2 arena with a shadow priest:

I ran hemo first season to just over 2100 without too much trouble, and am combat maces now and similarly ranked.

I think the control with this spec would be amazing, and the DPS wouldn't be half bad either once 2.3 kicks in. The <35% damage boost will be huge for arenas, especially with the incredible rushdown you could get with two ARs! Not to mention the stacking armor penetration from S3 gear and serrated blades...

This is missing a few arena staples however. Here's where I see the spec lacking, and why I left it off:
- Imp poisons. I've had a hell of a time getting crippling/wound to proc before I picked this up in my current spec. I still offhand crippling because I'm paranoid about being kited to death.
- Fleet footed. Boars speed or hat gem should make up for that.
- Relentless strikes. Not a huge deal since it was most useful with deadly throw, which has been nerfed in 2.3. Extra combo points from hemo should make up for it.
- EA, a hemo build standby. Can probably do without, I was never too skilled in my usage of this anyway.
- Lethality. New Mace Spec should make up for a lot of this damage, especially since it works on white crits too!
- Riposte. 6 points for a half length disarm (I assume all warriors will keep the talent and most rogues will still use weapon chains) isn't worth it when I'm not dropping 41 points into the tree.
- Murder. 2% dps. Shrug.
- Nerves of Steel. The 10% stun/fear resist won me a couple games when it happened at JUST the right time, but the only point I can spare is in heightened senses, and I feel like I lose more rogue fights from getting spotted early than I lose fights from not hoping on a random 5% fear resist.

Obviously, this spec would be kind of mediocre at the moment, but I feel like 2.3 changes in sub will help this spec shine for 2v2 arena.

Thoughts? changes? Criticism? Vast amounts of praise?

If your focus would be 2v2 then I dont see why a build like this wouldnt be effective.

I ran hemo maces a bit couple weeks back for some 2v2 games and I ad fun with it. Didnt seem to hurt or help my rating at the time but either way it is fun having 2 sets of those crucial cooldowns in a 2v2 arena.

If your focus was 3v3, 5v5 then id probably tell you to stay away from hemo maces.. even after 2.3 hits... But for a double dps 2v2 team going down the sub tree is gunna give you that survivability that your gunna need.

Im sure theres quite a few combat maces fanboys that will tell you different though.

If nothing else hemo maces would be more "fun" then combat maces :)

Deadliness over Malice. Deadliness will give 140 AP next season at the very least, and anyway without lethality and with resilience the value of crit is greatly diminished. Hemo also, because it isn't normalized, benefits greatly from your AP. If you want math, in PvE (no resil) 5% crit is a 5% damage increase, and with typical gear for that spec (1400AP base) Deadliness would increase your dps by 10, and you'd probably have just under 200dps with weapon and ap combined, so that's just over a 5% increase. However, as I said, resilience would reduce the damage increase from crit to less than 5%, and the mechanics of hemo would increase the value of 140AP a little bit as well.

On the whole, I'm looking at speccing the same way next season, but that might just be because I'm having a flirtation with 2dps 2v2 idea atm.

I once tried 5 32 24.
It was fun, and we got over 2,2k in 2v2, but:
If your duelling a rogue, 18 43 > all, and you got the better burst, and your sustaining dps are just great. Jeah, you rarely get the 1st hit, but you pwn other rogues anyway, and blade turning is one of the best talents i can imagine, especially vs druids and in combination with mace specialisation, just awesome. Also your shiv very often regains you 15 energy which is very nice. So, jeah im back to deep combat, and happy with it. And in pve, we're about to start bt and hyjal, i don't have to respecc every raid, although i'm mace, my dps are fine.
