Playing with no addons because I was too lazy to drag around my folders. It's so hard to get used to. Anyone else playing with no addons?

I was thinking about may not using them during the tournament, but given the length of time after it ends, might as well qualify first and then slowly stop using them as I practice for the Regionals. If I don't make regionals, well nothing lost by using addons.

What place do you have to be to make Regionals?

4th or better in either of the qualifying rounds

Yea, it goes like this:
Qualifying Round (6 weeks):
2 weeks of practice
Team ratings reset
2 weeks of play where adding a member gives -150 rating to the team
2 weeks of play where all teams are locked and can not be modified
Top 4 teams qualify for Regionals
Then there is Qualifying Round 2 after that, in which the top 4 teams here move on to Regionals. If any of the top 4 teams in round 2 were top 4 in round 1, then the next highest team gets the spot (you only qualify once for Regionals between both rounds).
Round 2 also costs $20 to enter into, just like Round 1.
Then Regionals consist of the top 8 teams from the qualifying rounds, and regionals allow players to compete for entrance into the world championships (which is where you can earn actual cash).
Also supposedly any team caught win trading/exploiting in any way is perma-banned from the tournament.

Are addons not allowed in the finals?

Teams that get to regionals get some cash too, but not much. Maybe 200 a person.

If they're using addons, I might as well too.
But if it comes to playing without addons, I really only need my two pet macros~

no addons are allowed in finals
If I recall from the wsvg/dreamhack lan events, players used the rupture UI? package or something like that to play. I think that mod contained the focus unit frame, and a few other minor addons.
Barring focus frame, I don't think any mods are game-breaking and if you indeed qualified in the top4 you should be capable of playing in a lan event without diminishing return/enemy buff timers.

so if you qualify in the first round do you have to sign up for the second one?

you get to play for free in the 2nd round ONLY for the practice period, but not for the tourny part

ah nice so you get to practice and just wait for that tourney part to end and wait for the regionals?

I can't imagine myself playing w/o a focus frame : / tbh I barely got over of not having timers on my partner's cc (like im playing 2v2 with a druid he roots someone and I cant see how soon its over) on NECB T_T

Ya I'm generally good about counting cyclones off in my head, but I really miss this. Is there another mod that shows the CC timers of my partner now that NECB doesn't?
As far as no addons go I'm not even going to pretend that I'd be fine without them at the moment. I've promised myself I'm going to go for a more minimalist UI, but I always end up adding another addon in my weakened state. I'm addicted, apparently.
Yea, when i had to play at blizzcon/cgs with no addons it was bad =(

So what type of team setups do you think lose the least from not having addons. I can see high control/technical teams like Hunter/Mage/Healer getting hurt worse and teams like war double/healer being almost unaffected.

I always play without addons.. seem to do fine. You can bind every key with the normal interface, you know.
Well, I do have some addons, ofc, but nothing special besides Proximo.

I use Proximo, Quartz (just the focus cast bar, a focus fram(with cb), and I use ORA raid bars to show my party and their targets.
I guess dropping that stuff wouldn't be a big deal. Basically just targeting/assisting stuff and better ability to keep an eye on my focus. Not having a focus cast bar would be the only thing that would be different. Would have to physically watch that player to see what they're casting.

Yeah, the only thing that is going to really affect me is not having a focus casting bar. But, I could probably work around that.
