Hey guys, I've been working on my arena skills as a paladin. I think I have a grasp of most of the main things I need to do to keep myself and my team alive, but I was just wondering if any of you had any tips that could help us progress even farther? My 2v2 and 3v3 sit in the 1600 range right now, but we all just got some new gear and we will be trying arena again today. Anything that I can do above the normal healing and BoF etc? My 2v2 is a MS warrior and myself, 3v3 is that same MS warrior, and elemental shaman and myself.

Also, in 5v5 and other arenas as well, I am always targetted and CC'd. I only see 2 ways to break the CC, my PvP trinket and bubble out of it, what can I do to avoid being CC'd so much?

Edit - Another thing, mages CS owns me, they CS me and kill my warrior before I can get out of it, what can I do?

When a warlock's pet in on you, which they will be VERY often in 2v2. Use your anti-demon abilities to kill it. When you do this make sure you right click off all positive magical debuffs or else a felhunter will self-heal. If the warlock is speced for it, another one will come at you instantly or very shortly, take this time to drink/ big slow heal (no chance of pet CS). When the pet comes at you again, kill it again. After this point, the lock will take either 6 or 10 seconds to get a new pet out. If you roll with a warrior AND the warlock did not instant cast summon a new pet and/or its on a 10 sec cast time... ALL DPS on the lock he is UA and lacks SL. If you killed the second pet then ALL DPS on the lock, You just destroyed 34-41 of his talent points =D

PS, having the MS warrior helping to kill the pet is THE most important part of the fight for him as well. Its much easier to kill a demon with 6k hp, and no resiliance than a 12k hp lock with SL and fel armor and 400 resil or his healer buddy. GL

I know this will sound wierd, but LoSing when you believe your vurnurable to a CC is the best option. Paladins unfortunitly are better known for their durability than survivability.

If your not allready, make sure your using Blessing of Sacrifice to stay out of sheeps. In terms of avoiding CS Id recomend getting a CS mod that tracks the cool down once its used on you or one of your team mates(or you can just count down in your head). That way you know when you can free heal and when you have to fake/LoS to get heals off.

Make sure you know each map like the back of your hands (pay attention to the texture and objects in the map as you play).

At higher rated games most of the wins will come from your ability to elude your enemies, this means Line of Sight. So knowing the maps inside and out will improve your odds.

Another skill is ability to kite. Kite everything. Don't stand still and heal through the damage **unless you have too**. Call out to your warrior buddy for an intercept+hamstring on that persistent warrior before you use your pvp trinket to get away, or to not waste your HoJ just as he intercept... (most rogues won't have weapon chain so ask warrior to disarm them too).

Watch for dishminishing return of stuns to make full use of your HoJ. Say you're running away to drink, rogue going after you. Stun him 50 yard away from the battle leaving him stunned and run back to heal your warrior means the opposing team has lost a lot of potential dps.

Objective is to maximize your team dps and healing, while minimizing their dps.

Also look for your warrior target's health. A nicely timed stun on their healer when their dpser is low is critical and will bring you many wins.

Don't hesitate to BoP your warrior. It saves him from physical damage and more importantly remove that ugly Mortal Strike on him. When you're done with healing and he didn't click it off put a nother blessing up.

Watch and use the proper aura. When druid cyclone you your auras are off, turn them back on after you get out of cyclone (they're fixing this).

I find there are two main important thing playing a holy pally:

1) Positioning...assume the opponent knows what your doing at all times. Put yourself in a spot that limits the vision and range the other team has on you while keeping your team up.

2) Awareness...you have to know what the other players are doing and how it will affect your team. The more experience you get the more you will be able to predict a burst or cc another team is going to put out so you can counter it. This also involves knowing your teammates well and their playstyle so you know the kind of damage they can take and a move they may make so you can help them out.

The more experience you get, the better you will become. I started out on 1400 teams...just stick through it and perservere.
