View Full Version : How do you keep your pet alive? (2v2)

As we all know a warlock without his pet is game over. My pet kept dying so I specced 23/38 for better survival but any warrior at 2100+ that can smash his face on his keyboard can still kill it in 3 seconds flat. I'm obviously missing something.
Most of the time I keep it on the healer so he can't drink. Warrior intercepts, I can't pull it back or give any commands because it's stunned, not including mace procs. Three seconds later it's dead and the healer is drinking. Fear or deathcoil only prolongs the inevitable for a couple seconds and then game over. Even when I summon a voidwalker it still gets raped by mortal strike and my healer goes oom quickly. Pets have no resilience so what do I do? I run with a paladin.
Been stuck at 2100-2200 because of this I believe. Got to 2193, played a string of "Look at my big weapon" warriors and lose a number of 20 point losses. Please help

While warrior is killing it start summoning a new one
(not the talented summon!) That's what I love about warlocks pet summon, combat or damage doesn't stop it, you can pretty much summon in front of a mage if his cs is down, and it's only what, 5 second cast for SL?
You can fear warriors in case you haven't noticed this. It'll buy you a little bit of time.
You need to bring the pet back before it's going to get it's face smashed in, and health funnel always helps out a bit.
I dont know why your healer is going oom from healing a voidwalker, as they should be able to drink.
Again, fear the warrior.

Thanks for such quick replys!
If I summon a new pet while he's killing my first one, won't he just kill my next one too? I'll be losing mana and shards and the warrior loses nothing. I don't think my dots are enough to take the healer's mana down especially if they drink while my pet #x is getting thrashed.
Health funnel works well when I'm in range(only 20 yards) but then I'm stuck stationary and healing. Once again only the warrior gains.

Once the first pet (felhunter I assume) goes down, just summon a blueberry. If your healer cant keep that up between fears on the warrior, you might need to get a new one. Even if the warrior DOES try to kill the voidwalker, it will take long enough that you can drain the opposing healers mana long before that.

He was saying to start summoning one when your pet looks like it may go down. This means your pet is at ~1200 hp, you know your healer can't keep it up, so you start to summon a new one. This allows you to save your fel dom for a later time in case they really do put too much pressure on you. The pet is only there to keep their healer from getting out of combat and drinking really; sure a felhunter helps to dispel and silence, but a VW has to suffice just to keep them in combat.

While your pet is dying summon a new one, have your healer keep the opposing healer in combat while your pet is traveling. Effectiely you will run them out of mana as they are focusing all their attention on your pet while you are able to drain them and dot them up, when the pet is dead you will have a new one summoned, figure out the best positioning for you and your healer so that they cannot interrupt your summons. Easier said then done, but work on coordination and your pet will no longer be a viable target for warrior teams.

try to live with the resummoning. things won't become better, rather the opposite. weapons become bigger, pets dont scale enough.

It's what, 2000 mana to resummon a pet? That's ~200 of your healer's mana after you life tap. In the mean time, the other team just had to do 10,000 dmg, and you weren't being targeted.

lol no, even less 12xx mana to resummon a new pet. 1/2 that when you use fel dom.

Just dot the warrior and the druid or what ever healer it is, make the pet be close to the middle so that their priest can't piller abuse resulting in you're healer mana burn theirs forcing their warrior to go on your healer allowing you to mana drain. >_>
