Well its been quite a while in the making but we are extremely proud to unveil the new look of ArenaJunkies.com! Along with the new look we have packed on quite a few brand new features and upgrades. Before we get into that we would like to announce the winner of the Logo Competition.

Logo Competition

We had a lot of fun with the Logo Competition and hope everyone else did to. Thanks to everyone who participated. We were pleasantly surprised at how many great submissions there were.

We are happy to congratulate Ellic (http://www.arenajunkies.com/char/US/Darkspear/Ellic/) on winning the logo competition! Ellic will be receiving a complimentary Arena Junkies Premium Membership (http://www.arenajunkies.com/payments.php), a free two months of WoW, and a free t-shirt with the new ArenaJunkies logo. As well as designing the new logo, Ellic also designed the new site banner. We think it looks terrific. Congrats and Thanks Ellic!

Brand New Features

We have packed this release with new features and upgrades. We'll outline the major changes below and appropriately leave the rest as Easter Eggs for you to discover on your own.

Frontpage (http://www.arenajunkies.com/)

* News Reel – For a little flair we've added a news reel to accompany major news items.
* Quick Rankings – The Top 10 2v2 teams, 3v3 teams, 5v5 teams, Guilds, and Players in the world right at your fingertips.
* Recent Content Block - Never again miss the most recent Guide/Strategy/Macro/etc.

User Profiles (http://www.arenajunkies.com/char/US/Tichondrius/Tyveris/)
With the new profile's you may never need to use The Armory again. We have included each of your teams, your gear, gem and enchant info, as well as a wall for leaving a note.

Team Profiles (http://www.arenajunkies.com/team/3v3/US/Tichondrius/Train_the_Mage/)
Each team we index now has its own page. This page includes all the vital data, a graph showing the teams historical rating, and a wall to leave a team a message.

Guild Profiles (http://www.arenajunkies.com/guild/US/Tichondrius/HP/)
Each Guild that we index also has its own page.

This page displays all the members of the guild that are on 2000+ rated teams as well as information on the Guild's global ranking (a brand new feature we'll explain soon!).

Improved Arena Team Rankings (http://www.arenajunkies.com/rankings/)

You will find the new rankings page performs much faster, delivering you the information you need without the wait. It also shows up to 100 per page instead of 50 now that it's programmed more intelligently :P


Individual Rankings (http://www.arenajunkies.com/rankings/player/)

Wonder who the top ranked players in the world are? Look no further.


We have developed an algorithm for calculating the top ranked players that doesn't penalize people for participating in only one or two brackets. Well rounded players with highly rated 2v2, 3v3, and 5v5 teams will still tend to come up on top.


Guild Rankings (http://www.arenajunkies.com/rankings/guild/)

We are bringing the competition to your guild! All guilds that have a member on a 2000+ rated team is now globally ranked. The rankings are calculated by adding up the composite score of each played in a guild that plays on a 2000+ rated team.

Very good job, nice coding. Just a few tweaking here and there required.

love the new features like guilds, posting function on everthing and ranks, lots and lots of rankings! :P

Wow, I actually rubbed my eyes when I replied to a topic which I had open for some hours and saw the differences... wow! What's the new/old font face if I may ask? New looks like Arial, but what was the old?

Yes the new is a standard Arial the old was Verdana.

Like the new look.

However you seem to like showing people with beer mugs when celebrating site events, whereas replacing the beer mugs with needles that read "arena" would be more suitable. ;)

Seems a little cluttered imo. Try to mesh it a bit...remove the border from the links at the top, for example. Otherwise, that's the logo I liked best, and I'm really diggin the ranking window.

Pretty good but the background is so plain (straight up black, I miss the old brownish color) for those on resolutions greater than 1000px.

I know I jump teams a lot to sell points, but it seems like it's gotten worse for keeping up with it -- my profile has a team that I played on for fun MONTHS ago (that even it says I'm no longer on). Not sure if that's an armory problem or something that your programming isn't picking up on.

Also, yay for having the number 1 guild on my server as far as the stats go, but again the players and teams are WAY off. (counts a couple friends who we gave points to on 2k teams, and doesn't count half of our other teams, etc)

I'm not trying to complain too much - I love the site and all of the improvements made since I joined many months ago!

Thanks, this feedback is extremely helpful. It tends to be a combination of armory issues and how we cache the information. We cache it indefinitely if the teams rating doesn't change because of how rate limited we are to pulling data from the armory. The armory also tends to keep you on teams you have left and occasionally not show you on team at all, so this can lead to a big mess.

I have a few new ideas for how to get the information more efficiently and try and make sure we don't have really old teams cached. As far as point selling goes, hopefully over time, those players will get removed from the team. It's really hard to figure out what is win trading and what is team hopping now that people can queue dodge.

So in summary, Thanks, I'll bookmark your character page and use it as one of my tests as we continue to improve things.

Should be fixed and now log you in as your character name and not let unregistered people join the chat.
