So, after playing wow for years and quitting Aion recently I wanted to try something new, I really didn´t play any warcraft games or dota before and a friend of mine started to play LoL 3 days ago and told me to download it.
I found it amazingly fun and new (for me), so I have some questions about hon.
1-Why is it so better than lol? (lot of people says this on forums)
2-If im not wrong it´s in beta, so when will be the game released?
3-Do you think it will have a solid playerbase, tournaments and stuff like ST for example? Do you think it will be played for years like dota?
4-Does the developer team seem to have a clue on what they are doing in terms of balance and support?
I´m loving lol so far, so i want to give this game a shot specially because lol seems to not be played/known so much.
PD: I really don´t want to fill this forum more than it is with beta key request but if someone could send me one to hadouken_shoryuken@hotmail.com it will be very apreciated (yes im a hardcore street fighter fan :p )

HoN = WoW
LoL = Aion
In other words LoL is just a cheap attempt to cash in without anything really behind it. From what I played, seemed like none of the small nuances that made dota so good were there. Everything from attack animations, to interface, to general gameplay and balance all felt really subpar.
Whereas HoN so far is obviously made by people who understand the genre they are trying to emulate. The game feels really smooth so far, and has potential to be even better than dota if they can put as much love into it as icefrog did.
Edit: Also what street fighter game do you play?
I play STHDR but waiting for my xbox back.
Also, they give away 15k keys every monday at like 2 p.m. or something at alienware arena.

1) LoL dumbs down the lane control aspect of the game by removing denies. Also the gold gain (it's the equivalent of em in dota). The fact that lane control isn't a big issue affects positioning and just makes the game less enjoyable at a high level.
2) maybe. It has a large following so far
3) No idea. Guessing Q1 next year
4) At least a better than rudimentary understanding. Most of the devs seem to understand the metagame although there are some questionable balance tweaks.

Thank you! I already have my beta key but any feedback is wellcome!

I play STHDR but waiting for my xbox back.
I play street fighter 3 and 4 both at competitive level, but play casually almost every fighting game out there ;)

I have both games and prefer LoL. The main differences are as follows
HON has...
1. denying
2. faster game pace (as far as movement speed of units goes)
3. duplicated heros from dota
4. duplicated items from dota
5. arguably better graphics. depends if you like the serious/evil/more lifelike graphics or cell shaded/cartoony graphics (like aion graphics vs WOW basically).
In a nutshell, HON is dota with better graphics.
Why do I like LoL better?
1. Denying is dumb. Arguably more skillful, but ranged characters have an advantage at denying in the lanes early game and it seems dumb to just be trying to deny 24/7, i.e. not fun.
2. I prefer the cell shaded/cartoony graphics, as I prefer wow graphics over aion.
3. Finding games in LoL is much easier/faster/better organized. It's basically the same as war3 battle.net queue system.
4. Leveling your summoner and getting runes/talent trees adds more to the game imo.
5. The game is designed by people who designed wow, including zileas who is a worldwide starcraft professional (did many of the battle reports even) doing the game balancing. I have trust in them to keep up with producing a quality game.
6. You can play it for free and get all the benefits you could as if you payed money (accumulating IP to buy champs/runes/skins etc).
I dunno if HON is gonna be free once the full version is ready, but if there is a free version you could just play both too.

Thx, other question I have, is there any matchmaking system or 5vs5 premade? Because I have 4 friends to play with and its kinda weird to just open public games with 5 locks because you cant ab and people dont want to play vs 5 organized friends =/

Only way you can fight another premade in a 5v5 is to create a game and wait like 9 hours as far as I know. Also, ya I can see why pugs would just see 5 locks on the other team and be like "lol bye." Finding games in HON just blows altogether imo.

oh thats kinda crap then =/ In lol you could make like a "party" and then queue to fight against other premades, thought hon will have something like that =S
Then what usually do people that want to play 5vs5 with friends or in a more competitive way having good partners?

HoN is still in beta, and the matchmaking system isnt available yet, so no one knows if this will be possible or not.
Another way is just to host a game and put "no ab" at the end of the game name.
